We as African Americans with whites in the family tree choose to affiliate with our African American experience based on our upbringing, culture, history and treatment based on brown skin in America. Being raised by white grandparents does not stop the cop who pulls you over in NY, CA, or Alabama and shoots you or tries to bash your head in because he fears Black men. Now, T.J. please plan to have a separate conversation with Black women leaders. I did not see your panel as "leaders of the Black community", but leaders of specific organizations in the Black community (which is not monolithic). I tire of news media designating people as "Black leaders".
