Your swine flu questions. Our answers.

We've been getting a ton of "tweets" on swine flu, including some really great questions. Here's a sample:

TGIFridie@KyraCNN Can you get the vaccine now from your doctor, or do you have to be showing symptoms of infection first?

curious1966@KyraCNN If 36000 ppl die each yr from the flu, why so much coverage of this strain? Bc there is no vaccine?

GuyAllen@KyraCNN I'd like to know, for the majority of people, will Swine Flu be any different than an ordinary flu in symptoms and recovery?

Denechek@KyraCNN What good is restricting travelers from Mexico that appear sick, when they are contagious 3 days before they exhibit any symptoms?

curious1966@KyraCNN been hearing alot about hand sanitizers w/ regards to the Swine Flu.Just how effective is hand sanitizer & how long lasting is it?

Well, CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta is on location in Mexico, and has been updating his blog page regularly. It's a fantastic resource with A's for these Q's - and many more.

Heidi talks to the Teacher of the Year

Talk about an inspirational guest! Heidi is interviewing someone really special this morning:

Passion, professionalism and perseverance: those are things that Tony Mullen says drive him. On Tuesday, President Barack Obama named Mullen the 2009 National Teacher of the Year, at a White House ceremony. Today - Heidi is talking with him!
Mullen is a ninth through twelfth grade special education teacher at The ARCH School, an alternative education branch of Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Connecticut. And he's someone who is changing lives - by reaching out to students with unique needs. He says: "teachers are entrusted with the task of creating intelligent, ethical, and productive young adults–a job achieved by understanding the many shades and hues of children and how they learn."

Join Heidi in the Newsroom this morning from 9a-11a - as she talks to the Teacher of the Year, Tony Mullen.

Tony Harris Sings Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson announced in March ten concerts in London this July. This is the first time Jackson's performed in 12 years. The concerts will take place at the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena starting July 8. He called the performances a "final curtain call".

Just in case you missed it... In honor of Michael Jackson, Tony Harris breaks out a little rendition during the commercial break. What song is he singing?

In Kyra's Own Words: Fisher House

This was the 6th annual Fisher House Golf Classic.

Just imagine being a member of the military and you go overseas to fight in a war, in shape and mentally prepared to fight and serve your country.

Then your entire career comes to a halt because the enemy took part of your body…and many times that impacts the head and heart of our men and women in uniform as well.

They need their family and they need them by their side when they are trying to recover. Fisher House provides that.

There are 43 Fisher houses right now in the United States providing a free home for families who want to be by the side of their loved one as they go through therapy, surgery and recovery from war.

I am so glad we support this organization and I hope you will too. For more information go to the Fisher House website.

Where Kyra's been...

A three-day weekend? How decadent! Yep, that's what we thought too. Then we got these pix from the lovely Ms. Kyra Phillips:

KP pedaled her butt off, and was one of the top 10 fundraisers Saturday!

On Saturday, she pedaled for 6 solid hours to benefit Ovarian Cycle. The non-profit supports development of an early detection test for ovarian cancer, and tries to boost awareness of the disease.

Kyra's grandmother (for whom she was named) died of ovarian cancer at age 53.

On Monday, Kyra hit the links for the Fisher House Golf Classic.

Fisher House provides service members' families a free place to stay while their loved one gets specialized treatment at a military hospital or VA medical center.

Kyra partnered up with Army Staff Sgt. Dale Beatty, who lost both of his legs to an anti-tank mine in northern Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Beatty received his Purple Heart personally from President Bush. He's a dad of two little boys, who's cycled the Marine Corps Marathon. Per a Kyra update yesterday: "great sense of humor and a real great golfer."

Two really great causes - getting some help this weekend. For more info, or to contribute, you can click the embedded links.
