Just looked at comments from today and it was clear that one of the comments used "that's so gay". This is a classic example of using this as a negative putdown. Parenting maybe part of the problem as they see their parents exhibit negative actions and speech in the home and then feel that feel that it acceptable to imitate those actions. "Sticks & Stones...." is not now and never has been acceptable response to people bullying. Anyone who thinks so has either never been bullied, was a bully themself, or was trying to justify standing in a crowd and not having the courage to speak up and take a stand against bullies.
