No Talking Points: Stop Blaming The Media

It's a go-to tactic for Republicans, blaming the media. Herman Cain tried it, but look where he ended up—his dreams of the White House in 2012 are over. CNN’s Don Lemon tells the GOP hopefuls that it’s time to point their fingers elsewhere.

They always blame someone else for their own short comings. You tell a Politician is lying, there Lips are moving.

I'm African, live in Houston and currently in Europe.... Cain is the worst nightmare of the black race. (Unlike Michael Jackson, he can't dance). Turned off my TV at some point. I said out loud to myself: Who's this pompous stranger yelling at me in my bedroom?

Hi Don, you must know that its not the reporting but the double standard...

It's the media not reporting beyond a few brief stories a credible woman, Juanita Broderick, accusing a sitting President (Bill Clinton) of rape while blasting the airwaves with every woman who accused Herman Cain of far less.

Its the media someohow not being able to figure out that John Edwards is having an affair with his mistress on the campaign trail for over a year, leaving it up to the National Enquirer of all media org's to be the first one to report it. I am confident that if a Republican VP had been traveling with his Mistrss on the campaign trail for over a year another media outfit would have probably figured it out, and then oh what a media firestorm we would have had!

Its the amount of media resources, volume and intent of media in Wasilla Alaska versus Chicago doing background research in the last election. Its the fact that a far right wing talk show host (Sean Hannity) had to talk about Reverend Wright for a year before the media would come kicking and screaming to the story...

Just a few examples...Am I Wrong that there is some validity in believing that a double standard exists?

    Thanks and enjoy your show,

    Don,

I do blame the media for the current state of dysfunctionality in government, but for different reasons. Why is it that no one discusses the Republican and Democratic conference calls where propaganda and spin strategies are discussed on how to best sell their partisan politics to Americans like mindless sheep? Why is it that many of the privately invited members of these secret calls are on the payrolls of ALL of the mass media outlets, including the one you work for? Why does the media encourage such deceit from both sides of the aisle? At least FOX and MSNBC are a little more honest in their sensationalist propaganda and vitriolic polarizing rhetoric. CNN seems to hide it a little better for both parties. I am not calling CNN partisan, but I am calling CNN part of the problem.

It's time to stop driving wedges between the "left and right leaning" American public, stop condoning "talking points" from both sides, and show what the true process behind the dysfunction and propaganda is. Is Journalistic Integrity a thing of the past?

Don, you just aired a segment on the Morman religion. Did your guest tell all the truth? What role did Joseph Smith play in that religion? Wasn't he an apostle and didn't he talk to God and God told him to have many wives and that women are "subjects " to men and especially to their husbands? Now please tell the rest of the story!!!!!! I dare you, no I double dare you!
