Is CNN out of their minds giving this guy a platform?

Mr. Harris is not merely accused of an altercation with his partner – he is accused of beating his boyfriend to a pulp in a restaurant. His partner had to have metal plates implanted into his face following the beating.

I would like to see JimL call Mr. Harris a sissy or a fruitcake to his face.

I bet your keyboard machismo would be running down your leg.

If anything Mr. Harris sounds like a typical abusive insecure heterosexual man.

Your judgements have no place ANYwhere. People love who they love. It's better than hate any day.

    Umm,
Carlos X is one of those people that when it comes down to it will be in Hell if the Bible is true. Judging is not a Sin so you can't be forgiven. Funny how that works. Thou shall not Judge but they do and then hide behind God.
And actually you are born gay! Scientist have in fact PROVEN it. They did it by showing Males and Females sexual images of the opposite sex. While doing so they monitored brain activity and were able to watch in Males a certain part of the brain light up and with women a different part light up. Now when they did the same to Homosexual men, the woman's area lights up and the man's light up in homosexual women. In effect a Gay man thinks sexually like a woman.

It is a hot topic and the News papers know this so this is not front page news. Proven that people are born gay would take all the debate out of it and all the news would stop. So the News doesn't want you to know. The Government also doesn't want you to know because the insurance companies are the big spenders that give Politicians money. The Insurance companies don't want Gay Marriage because of all the people they would be forced to cover legally. Feel free to review Political donations. So your ignorance is based on money. Sad isn't it? It is always about the Money.

Oh and research what I wrote before you call me names. Name calling is just childish and No, I am not gay and I have no problem with people who are. Why would I? Why are people AFRAID of gay People? Honestly what kind of a threat is there? Are you that insecure with yourself? Sad for you.

Oh and the people that say only a Mother and Father can raise I child? #1 Kids that are raised in the Nuclear family are not perfect just look around. And #2 do you want to start taking away kids who's parents are divorced? They don't live in a Mother/Father home. Or the people who say the physical parts don't match and they can't have sex as Man and Wife? So what's next? Making paralyzed people getting married because they can't have sex? Or people who are injured? What about Women who go through menopause and lose their sexual drive? Should they be forced to Divorce? They are not acting as "Man and Wife". Or Guys that have hd major injury to their manhood? They can't get married? I know, that's different! Is it? Technically the Bible doesn't say it. But then again it doesn't mention how Noah got from the Middle East to Australia for a platypus, to California for a Western Diamondback, to Norther Asia for a Gorilla and then to the arctic for Penguins either. I think you know what I mean.

People don't see the big picture. Oh and back to God, If God had an issue with it he would not allow it don't you think? By you calling homosexuals what you are, you are saying God is wrong and imperfect. WOW, I hate to be you!

Everyone speaking their religious view points, quoting scripture about this subject or being outright insulting are no different from one another. Have fun enjoying your close minded, ignorant lives and I'll continue to support those that are absolutely no threat to any of us. Let them marry like the rest of us, why should they not suffer in the suffering that is a lifetime of monogamy.

Wow it's pathetic to read some of these comments. Saying it's "unnatural" to be gay is like saying it's "unnatural" to be black. This is not the 1960's.

The media will use anything to stir the pot about the gay agenda. Being gay has nothing to do with playing football. Just play the game and leave sexual preferences out of it!

It's funny, they just glazed over the fact that he beat up his boyfriend. "Oh let's all feel sorry for Kwame. He's so brave to come out." NOT! HE WAS OUTED BECAUSE HE BEAT UP HIS BOYFRIEND!!! This is a joke of a story!

I suppose that now, in order to be more politically correct, we will have to change the name of the sport to "buttball."

    March 30, 2013 at 2:04 pm |
  14. Fred

Completely agree with his decision to not "come out" while still playing football. Why would an offensive tackle share something like that? Like, he says, "It's hard," and then he would have been a very offensive tackle. Better to keep your private stuff private as a matter of manners, if nothing else, even if it's hard. Coming out now? It's his bad behavior of assault on his former boyfriend that outed him more than choice, anyway, and since he's not playing any more, it's no biggie. At least he's a good role model for younger gay players teaching them that they're not alone. They need to learn that they don't have to share their sexual behavior publicly. Please, don't share it. This world is disgusting enough as it is due to bad human behavior. Sick of hearing about it and sick of how discussions of sexual behavior is being used by politicians to divert everyone's attention away from real issues. If you're a dude and you want to marry a dude, that's your business. Just leave the Church out of it. Asking God to bless your sin is more than ridiculous.

It is so sad to see how people claim to be Godly are so quick to juudge, denounce, and condemned. Let him that is without sin cast the first stone. we live in sin and the only thing can cleanse us is God's love for mankind. John 3:16 states "Ford God so love the world that His only son He gave, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish but have eternal life". love covereth a multitude of sin. alot of us give God and christiandom a really bad name. We quote one part of the bible, but other parts are left un-notice.

C'mon people, its not a choice to be gay! Im glad he came out and I think anyone who is so intrigued and upset by this than maybe you should question your own sexuality. The media needs to cut it out with this gay bull-crap every second. It's as if being gay has to become the new trend and unless we accept it they're just going to continuously try to throw this in people's faces. If you were always gay good for you thats your business keep that for yourself. i don't get up everyday talking about how straight I am. Just stop this nonsense already. You feed this crap to little kids then they start to become confused. This is Ridiculous. Just stop it already.

    Being gay is WRONG. PERIOD.
Two humans of the same sex CAN NOT reproduce.
GOD (Jesus, in the flesh) says that homosexuality is an abomination. Homosexuality is a SIN, for which those who choose to engage in it will pay the ultimate price in Hell.
NO MATTER how homosexuals try to TWIST these basic truths, God's word will NEVER CHANGE!
NO MATTER how the media tries to convince us that we should accept homosexuality, two people of the same sex will NEVER be able to reproduce.
Look around you, in nature.... a male bird mates with a female bird. Open your eyes...elephants, dogs, fish, zebra, flies, and bobcats....ALL mate with the opposite sex.
There is NO AMOUNT of marching or picketing or parades that will change this biologically and moral truth. FAIR...this means you! FAIR... The BIBLE says that being STRAIGHT is RIGHT- you ought to read it sometime!
    Should we bash gays? NO.
Should we harass or bully gays? NO
I agree that gays should be able to live there lives in peace, however...
But do they deserve to be able to be married? Marriage is an institution of GOD, therefore the answer is NO. Gays should not try to infringe on GODs institution to try to make themselves seem as if their behavior is OK to be gay. The Bible CLEARLY REFUTES homosexuality. End of story.

I have a gay friend who said he believes that he became confused and ultimately accepted him being gay after he was molested as a child. He said he believes many children/youth become quite confused particularly, when it is same sex molestation. No one ever talks about that. Very interesting as we might learn something if those who are confused as youth are due to molestation as a child. something to think about honestly and truthfully.

In retrospect, I believe that Harris' choice to stay quiet about it during his playing years was was best. I personally don't care about his sexual orientation simply because I don't believe it makes any difference. It's a shame that, a lot of other people do, and although I may be may be off base here, I think there might be a higher percentage of people with opinions like that among NFL fans. It's just that football tends to be such a "macho" and "manly" thing that it seems like there would be less tolerance among that group. I'd like to think I'm wrong. Nope, I'm not gay but I've had friends who were and I'm quite comfortable with the conclusion that being gay is just something that "happens," like being born with brown hair. It's not realistic to believe anyone would make that choice because I've seen friends who genuinely suffered because of it and wished they were not that way. Kwame Harris was a great run-blocker, but he would always get holding penalties when Alex Smith threw a pass. See what I'm doing here? I'm talking about him as an athlete, because that's all that matters. Who cares if he's gay? You homophobes who are thumping the bible are missing the point of your religion. Love thy neighbor. I did not choose to be gay. It is enate and natural for me. I did not wake up one day and say I want to be gay. There was no choice to be made. Nature spoke its wise words to me.

I love, respect, and admire women. There is only one difference between me and a straight man: I don't find women SEXUALLY attractive. Thats it. Thats the only thing that separates us. I am no different than you in any other way. My sexual preference does not effect my morals, my standards, or respect my fellow humankind.

And to those that are tired of the "gay agenda" being shoved down your throat, it has nothing to do with being gay. It has everything to do with EQUALITY and RESPECT.

You say you tolerate us but just want us to stay quiet. We will not stay quiet until we are allowed the same access/privilege/respect as you. To deny us that is not tolerance, its remains discrimination.

IF people are not born gay...then why in the world would they choose to be part of a group of people who are ridiculed, looked down upon, and in some instances killed?? If you say it's a choice...then why would a gay person have chosen to be that way?? Why wouldn't they just choose to be straight and have all the problems disappear. And if you are not gay, then how do you know whether gays people are CHOOSING to be gay? What qualifies you to tell a gay person that the feelings and attractions for the same sex that they've had for as long as they can remember are something they chose to have?? In this case, argument that gay people choose to be gay is as ridiculous as telling a straight person that they are choosing to be straight and they need to change and become gay. Obvously, if you are straight...then the idea of someone telling you that you should be gay is absurb since you would have no attraction to the same sex. Well Straight People, telling a gay people want the opportunity to love the gender they are attracted to also. And using the Bible to justify your blatant judgment and ridicule of someone else's sins...is a sin as well. The Lord commands us to love one another. By being the judge of others...you are implying that you are God and worthy of judging because you yourself are without sin. And we know that WE ALL sin...so to speak out on the sins of others and not point the same finger at yourself and your own sins is hypocritical and a SIN. So let God be God...since HE ALONE is the only one qualified to judge us all. And He has been doing just fine without your "help".

I'm a Christian. I have no problem with the PERSON that is Gay. I do believe it's a sin you succumb to and not being born that way. I can't support gay lifestyle just as I can't support lying, adultery and other sins. I know many of you will disagree but if your going by the bible then it's clear. I do feel some Christians are misplaced in judging harshly as its not our place but our creator's.

I respect the fact that gays want change but I feel bad for all the straight men this player was around in the locker room throughout his career playing football. I am sure he showered with these men and changed clothes. He knew he was gay but the men around him did not. Similar to putting a man disguised as a woman on a volleyball team and one day he takes off the costume. It's not right. If your gay, come out, no more free peep shows. Then you can have your own locker room.

Athletes coming out the or having equal rights for gays does nothing the youth but continue to misdirect them. There is a reason why God said marriage is between ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN. Its not just a set of rules but a regulation to protect us all from doin something that will have an ill affect on our lives. Granted i do not agree in anyway shape or form of hating another person because of how they feel right now of being gay NO ONE IS BORN GAY. Thats like saying someone is born a pedafile. People just don't understand that there hearts are hard and their eyes have been blinded from the truth so when they do here the truth they can't receive it in love. I just pray for all the hearts of the ppl and for humility to come to Jesus and repent because his arms sre always open no matter what some has done in there past. Thats why he chose to be nailed to a cross for everyone's sins. Just say God if you're real and you sent your son to die for me please my eyes and soften my heart so that I may come to know you in Jesus name Amen

I am not gay, know those that are and frankly do not care. I live in western Canada and think that:
I believe that being gay is different from that which is normal. I have the right to believe this, that I do not feel bad for believing this, and others should respect my opinion. I believe that gay people and straight people deserve to be loved, respected, just do not disrespect my right to believe what I believe is normal. have a great day!

From surveys that I've read that hetrosexuals perform anal sex even more than homosexuals, so its funny with the whole Aids exit analogy. Seriously the reason why stds are as common is cause in America sex is considered a taboo not a legitimate scientific subject like other possible diseases are in the world. In the Netherlands for the longest teenage pregnancies were lower than the U.S perhaps cause sex is talked about as a fact not as a religious stupidstition like the shameful american public does it. I'd like to remark that homosexuality should be talked about more for a public health concern and acknowledgement of civil rights for everyone not just gays like me for historic and future policy in the U.S.

My God, the Bible, is against ALL sin, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, to name a few. To suggest that God made people homosexual is just ignorant. LOL. I love it. Complain all you want. Progression can be slowed down, but it can't be stopped. In 40 years our children will be reading about the plight of LGBT people the way I read about civil rights and the women's movement. Shame on you for casting your judgement. In America we have freedom of religion, and that's an amazing thing. My religion, my church, my pastor, are all accepting of LGBT people and have been performing wedding ceremonies for same-sex couples for years. And guess what, just like your church has the right to not perform these ceremonies, my church has the right to make up their own mind. If you want to talk about the sanctity of marriage, work on the ultra-high divorce rate and close the drive-thru chapels in Las Vegas. And if marriage is only for procreation, than stop letting old people get married for the 5th time when they obviously won't be able to produce. I'm not gay but I fully support my gay brothers and sisters and am happy to see them thrive as FAMILIES.......they may not be "traditional" but they are families, they have children, they pay taxes, they work, and they should and will have full protection of marriage eventually and nothing will stop that from happening. You can think whatever you want, but don't judge them. Leave that up to God....I think he's a bit more qualified.

J.Edger Hoover the head of the FBI was as Gay as Liberace the pianist.Like a lot of closeted gays he persecuted other gays in order to deflect attn from himself. Had the stigma been removed, the Soviet Union would not have been able to extort so much info from various gov employees in many of our allied country's Intel agencies . gay men are great...more women for those of us that aren't. you could say there's lot of gay women too, but as I've found I don't see alot of strictly lesbian women, most I've been around are bi, and very much into guys too. so it's all good with me. but I don't put too much into the study that "you're born with it", because like I said I believe the majority of "lesbian" women will say they are actually bi.

Jesus never once mentioned sexual orientaion. All he did was love others and tell others to do the same. Radically, he said love even those that hate you. Also he hung out with all the "losers" and showed them compassion. His purpose was to show people they were missing the point of scripture and quoted often to prove his points. "I desire mercy not sacrafice". For those calling for condemnation, the Lord has said it is not for one slave to tell another he is serving the master wrong. I believe the words attributed to Jesus because they ring true. Sad so many call themselves christians and dont follow His example.

Yes, being gay is unnatural and a sin just as being a liar, thief, adulterer, fornicator, molester, and any of the other sins that is mentioned in the Word of God. But the only one that can judge is God and His Word. God is love and loves you(He can save you) but He has bounds. He does not conform Himself to society. He is God and there is none like Him. He is not weak or need to be accepted. He is secure in Himself and if you don't like it you will literally go to hell.

Don't ask for your personal opinions on sexuality to be made into the law. Just stay atop your moral pedestal, keep your hate to yourself, and let us all look forward to the day when such ignorance has faded away and our country can finally make a little social progress.

As an outsider looking in, I could care less. However... I can see the side of a teammate. There should not be open showers... or an open lockerroom. Why should you be changing clothes worried over whether or not kwame is going to come over and try smooch on you

The God that I worship IS powerful enough to love all people, and accept all people.

Nobody is 100% straight and nobody is 100% gay. People look at other people's bodies. People have sexual feelings. People are also pretty good at not sexually assaulting their teammates in the shower, even if they are gay. So, why don't we all relax.

The thing is, most of us out here do not believe that ALL gay people are actually born that way. Personally, I have no doubt that some people are screwed up that way from birth but a lot of them fall into that lifestyle for different reasons that have nothing to do with genetics. As long as the possibility exists that this is true, most people are not going to condone that lifestyle for fear that their own kids could be influenced into it. So there you have it, it is not enough to " prove" that some people are born that way, you must proof that it is impossible for people to be influenced into that lifestyle. Good Luck with That !!!

Who is anybody to tell anybody who they can and cannot love? It's tougher in sports because of the locker room situations. Players may feel uncomfortable.
