First Lady: 'I'm 50 and fabulous!'

Michelle Obama is celebrating her 50th birthday and to celebrate, People Magazine gave her a cover spot of their current issue.

But is the First Lady's 5-0 truly a news event? Should the media be talking about it as much as it is?

New York Times Correspondent Jodi Cantor and CNN Commentator Michaela Angela Davis discuss Mrs. Obama  and how she has influenced and changed the role of the First Lady.

Thank you, Carol Costello for begging the question! Would love to have a long talk with you...one Ohio woman to another. Too often men's transitions are considered dignified while women's are considered dowdy. Both can be dignified. MANY of us are tired, tired , tired not of our lives but of a prevailing perception about our lives that results in inane questions even to the First Lady. She did answer well. Yet something more needs to be acknowledged: not every woman has the choice for expensive procedures. If we continue to go along this path we run the danger of thinking that only those who can and do have such procedures are worth our time and attention. How poor and shallow a culture we will have become! Thank you, Carol. You are beautiful!
