I am NOT a PREJUDICE person BUT...... If this was a Black cop that shot this young Black man, would we still be hearing about it? Or if this was a Black cop that shot a young WHITE man? I don't think so...We would NOT be looting or rioting in the streets...it would just fade away and be forgotten in a few days....The video shows this young man doing that strong arm robbery, BUT people DON'T BELIEVE IT.... say it was falsified... NOT....These people in Freguson MO. NEED to come to grips and stop all of this NONSENSE.......

Here we go again with the inflaming by the news media,CNN, HlLN ,MSNBC, and of course Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson before the facts are out or have been investigated thoroughly. What we do know is a black young man is dead and a white police officer shot and killed him who was taken to hospital with injuries himself. That is all we know as the undebateable facts but yet race baiters and money chasing attorneys news media and sharpton and jackson are there all claiming it is racism against a poor innocent young black man. IIf a police officer shot and killed anyone for no reason white, black hispanic etc I would be one of the first calling for investigation and justice. But this isn't what is happening in order for it to make the news media and all the others to join in they have to make it racists. We have the young man robbing a store and man handling the poor owner who was trying to stop him this is a fact the young man was not a sweet innocent young man to which they have claimed him to be. Did he deserve to die? No, but but the public deserves to know the truth about the young man as well as the police officer who shot him which I can guarantee you the media and ambulance chasing attorneys sharpton, jackson, will check into his past and smear him anyway they can. As for as withholding his name I agree with the police doing that until they could make sure his family would be safe. In the past with Zimmerman his family was threatened and also had to go into hiding , remember Spike Lee (white hater),gave out his families address which turned out to be the wrong family and they were threatened and harassed . If we asking for equal justice and fair justice that goes 2 ways lets report on the KNOCK OUT GAME that young blacks males are doing to non blacks. Wheres the President, Eric Holder, Sharpton, Jackson/? CNN,MSNBC.HLN, reporting on this MAYBE 30 SECONDS if at all.. Where's Don Lemon shouldn't he be asking for a conversation about this? A young girl pushing her baby in a stroller was robbed by young black males and because she didn't hand money over to them fast enough they shot the baby in the head and killed it . Let's have a conversation about this too, Lets have a conversation all the black on black of young bl;ack males killing each other. You news media, attorneys, sharptons and jacksons go after the stories that you can inflame and incite thats where the money is. Shame on all of you!

BTW, being that everyone has been speculating about what happened concluding with no evidence that the white cop shot him for no reason except that he was black. I will speculate and say the young man who had just shoplifted at a store(thats not speculation) the young black man is walking in the middle of the stteet a cop comes along to ask him to move out of middle of street ,young black man who just shoplifted and manhandled the owner who tried to stop him doesn't know the cop at the time didn't know what he had just done so he thinks he's going to get busted for shoplifting so he put up resistance to the police officer when the cop approached him and they got into a scufflel(not speculation police officer was taken to hospital with injuries), this is when he was shot by officer. Young black male thought he was going to be arrested for shoplifting when cop approached and fought cop. Think it would have been smarter if young black man got arrested for shoplifting and getting a slap on the wrist than resisting and running from a cop and ending up getting shot and killed. Did he deserve to die no but he shouldn't have resisted and fought the cop. He has to take responsibility for that choice. That is my take on all this and to me it the common sense of it all without all the inflaming and race baiting that is going on.

What happen was totally and completely wrong. If the kid did something wrong, the actions taken by the police officer were completely out of line and the whole city knows it. The worst part is that people witnessed this police officers power trip take a life in a manner that was not human. Why didn't he just asked them to sit on the curve or use his taser? If he really felt so threaten by this young man. But let's look at the big picture it's not just about a white and black racial issue. What about the Hispanic guy that got gunned down by a Los Angeles police officer in day light for no reason. The guy did not do anything to get killed by a police officer like some dog in the street. People watched and recorded the whole thing and the story was played on the Spanish news channels but the story did not get as much if attention like this story has. Point being is that we as people need to stop looking at this as a black and white issue and look at the big picture of how racism is still a problem everywhere. We need to put a stop to this because at the end of the day we are all living creatures of god and we all need the same things to survive. The police needs to teach officers that just because they are out there to serve and protect doesn't mean they can abuse their power to carry a gun and act as thou they have power to end a life like god. I know that not every police office has that mindset but, it would be nice to not have to worry about having to be confronted by those who are suppose to serve and protect their community. Or worry about making a wrong movement in front of them for it my be our last. People need to realize that the only way this country will ever succeed is until we learn to live with one another as a one. As one is the only way this on going issue will be resolved.

You don't know if that officer abused his power or not. All the facts aren't out yet and did you forgett the cop had injuries. The problem in this country is everytime a white person is involved in the death of a black it is spewed as a racism issue by those who make money off it. If it had been a white boy killed by a black officer it would not even had made the news including the spanish news channel. As long as you have the race baiters who inflame these situations regardless of the facts making money off of it it will never stop. I didn't hear you be upset over all the young black males killing each other by the hundreds in the major cities of this country. Maybe you should also pray to God to stop that violence and the KNOCKOUT game young black youths are doing to non blacks. That black young man was no sweet innocent boy as they have tried to portray him look at the video and how he strong armed that poor store owner who tried to stop him from robbing his store. We have every right to know the truth about the young black man as we do the white cop. You should wait till all the facts are out because you start accusing the police. Had the store owner shot and killed the young man for strong arm robbing him then would think think differentl? The young man didn't deserve to die but he shouldn't have resisted the police officer. IF you look at that video of him strong arm robbing that store owner you can see his demeanor his body language as a tough thug who's not afraid of anything and like he's done this before. When we start accusing this police officer of murder we also need to know the truth about the young black man. It should not be one sided as it has been until this convenience store tape came out. It's the most ludricris thing I have ever heard suggesting the police shouldn't have released it or the timing or it has been photo shopped. The sad thing is that when this has been thoroughly investigated and if the cop is found innocent you will still have the race baiters inflaming and inciting.

CNN's coverage of the tragic events in MO is out of line. They are justifying the looting and actions of the community as lawful unrest. Crime is crime CNN should not report the news in a biased manner. Are they FOX news now. Shame on CNN for inflaming the situation with biased reporting.

what about the store owner? was he in fear at any point? why destroy his business? my husband did time for putting his hands on a store clerk (that deserved it) and he wasn't trying to steal anything they called it attempted strong arm robbery he wasn't trying to rob the place and he went to police because he did nothing so why is everyone down playing the criminal activity? why is this community being destructive to their own community? that doesn't make sense. also everyone wants to know all info the police have then get upset when they are told things they don't like.

I was just listening to CNN regarding why the state did not follow the Federal gov't recommendation to not release the tapes/video. HAS ANYONE OF YOU EVER HEARD OF STATES RIGHTS! the state has every right to investigate and search for the real truth. The State has their investigation and the federal gov't appears to be conducting a "civil rights" violation investigation at the same time.

This is absolutely a nightmare! The media is putting way too much into this. Don't we have better things to tend to than feeding the racial card again. Stop this looting, that's not the solution to the problem, stealing from someone to avenge a death.Burning buildings down that don't even belong to the retailer is absolutely stupid. Think and get the facts before you react. Conviction before facts ends up with dissension among people.

Why do you never address the looting and destroying of property by the people of the community? Do they have a right to destroy property?

Every business in Ferguson should protest and close. Gas stations, grocery stores, department stores, party stores and all businesses because the community doesn't respect their property. Let it become a shelled out ghetto like detroit. And city residents will still wonder why businesses don't open up in their community. It's a joke, good luck Ferguson, doesn't look like your residents care about anything but themselves and rims and weaves and stuff that they loot.

Blacks could start in tents on a piece of land, and would be better off 1 hundred years from now than Blacks that chose to live with whites.

Blacks need to seperate themselves from Whites. The concept of a U S society free from racism and its tentacles is utopian nonsense. Whites as a group will never seperate themselves from their racist elements, because these elements form the basis of their protective services...

...And the outreach arm of a hate so much a part of them that they know if they don't have Blacks, Native Americans or Hispanics to hate, it will fall on their Jewish partners in crime...

hey "willie", every burnt out, demolished ghetto hellhole like Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland, etc.. was once WHITE. The less white it became, the worse the conditions became.. Detoilet had to file BANKRUPTCY as a CITY because it's a burnt out shell that is dead broke.. Once black people have control of a city it is destroyed.. what makes you think that if you gave them tents in the wilderness that they would be better off in a hundred years??? A White Man invented the television, camera, phone, cellphone, sattelite, internet, myspace, facebook, texting, etc.. Every invention you hold dear was created by the White Man.. If black people were isolated, they would never invent anything of use...

It's frightening to think that people defend people simply because of their race. Then when a crime and the perpetrator are identified, believe it's ok to loot and burn businesses because of the race of the perpetrator. Really?? It might be a better idea to take care of a community. Afterall, it's home. By the way Sharpton and Jackson are all about their own notoriety and when the cameras are rolling, they'll be there. What really do they accomplish?

    August 18, 2014 at 12:07 am |
  21. Bigwilliestyles

Only the racist, hate-filled fringe of the white race can equate looting a store as worse than unmitigated murder of a Black person.

You showed a video from a witness [ young girl ] this morning and several times and she said it only took her 30 seconds to go get her phone to tape the shooting, but if you look at the tape you are showing it has many more officers there and tape set up all around the area of the shooting. So it must have been taken at a much later time than just 30 seconds after the shooting. I'm sure it take a little time to set up a crime seen with police tape.

it has been brought up about the number of black officers/firemen in Ferguson, has any check to see how many applied for a job and was denied. If the people of Ferguson want peace , they need to start pointing a finger at the person beside them that is causing a problem, no one has a problem with a peaceful march/gathering of persons seeking justice. WE may not like like it but GOD says vengeance is mine. ALL PEOPLE will have to answer to him , NO ONE gets away with anything with GOD..

MICHAEL WAS STILL A YOUTH EVEN AT EIGHTEEN. THE OFFICER WAS A GROWN MAN WITH PLENTY OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE .IN PEOPLE SKILLS OR DID HE?/. MAYBE IT WAS HIS LACK OF THE DEPT. TRAINING THAT GOT MICHAEL KILLED. MAYBE THE POLICE DEPT. MIND SET NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THERE ARE TEST THAT WILL REVEAL THESE MINDSETS AMONG GROUPS . HOW about discussing that.
