Heidi Collins sails aboard the USS Harry S. Truman

Hi everybody!

The whole CNN Newsroom AM team is excited about our new blog!
Can't wait to share lots of stories with you about what we do and how we do it. And let us know what you think!

I want to tell you about an adventure I just had:

I just had an incredible visit to the USS Truman. It's a nuclear-powered ship that can carry up to 6 thousand sailors. The crews aboard the ship are out at sea for 7 long months - they sacrifice so much for our country! It was a real honor and pleasure to meet and talk with these young men and women - and they sure are young! Most of them are 19-24 years old - but they have a lot of responsibility.

As I told my CNN colleague Rob Marciano, I got the chance to take off and land on the carrier - going 0 to 130-miles-an-hour in about 3 seconds! Here's the video clip:

When will Obama's health care plan factor in the cost of millions of illegal aliens: heart transplants are costly.

    Hey Ms Collins,

I enjoy the heck outta the show. I am on my last few days here in baghdad... I have a story idea check out a recent problem with the defense contractor EODT and the fact they recently lost the rebid of the security contract for the victory base complex. In an appearent attempt to maximize profit till the end of their contract, they have drasticly cut the pay of a majority of the ugandans and the american workers.. Please look into this they deserve better the ugandans are a great bunch of ppl consumate professionals and very polite.. look into this i implore you..

Victims forgive their assailants all the time. That doesn,t mean the perpetrater doesn;t doesn,t have to do the time. Especially if he,s already been convicted . Time to man up Mr. Polanski
