Police Officer/Hero: Alvin Robinson

[cnn-photo-caption image=

This week, we've asked you to tell us about police officers you admire.

Well, Mr. Alvin Robinson, you've got a pretty big fan.

Bill Wilson left a comment on our blog about Officer Robinson, who serves with the Reading (PA) Police Department.

In addition to his regular duties, he does a lot of work to help kids. First in the "D.A.R.E." anti-drug program, and now in "G.R.E.A.T." - gang resistance, education, and training.

In Bill's words: "Officer Robinson is an exceptional public servant, both in and out of uniform."

We honor him as part of our special coverage of National Police Week.

I was at Notre Dame when Jane Fonda spoke. They threw eggs at her.

    Obama should take his raincoat.

Kyra, please post this if you are objective and not biased! Just yesterday here in Michigan two State Troopers up in the Upper Penisula were in pursuit late at night for a dangerous semi-trailer and were traveling over 115 mile per hour with no lights or sirens on, Needless to say, they ran into an innocent man not in connection with the chase and killed him! The cops reviewed themselves and by their buddies from the State Patrol and amazingly found that the cops did NOTHING wrong! Well Kyra, thats wrong in my book and the American people are sick of the way they follow their own rules! If I had done what they had done I`d be in jail for manslaughter at the very least and you know it! Citizens are growing more and more tired of Police and them being above the law. I will agree with you that if done properly and obeys all laws he or she is enforcing than yes it is probably the toughest job in the world! But cops step into these jobs they become transformed into these do as I say not as I do rogue cops! And its everywhere, the minority community is sick of law enforcement for these very same things as I pointed out to you. Sometimes I think you live in a bubble and you dont really see the real world as it is! Pleas Kyra, step out of this bubble and see the light, you will only be helping people out!

I have known Officer Robinson for quite some time.... And I concur with Mr. Wilson. Office Robinson has and continues to give of his time and service in support of youth. His active involvement with the PAL [Police Athletic League] and the NAACP demonstrates his special concern for community. I have seen first hand his hands on approach in dealing with Reading's youth. He greets everyone with a smile and warm words. Officer Robinson is a bird of rare plumage and his presence has been a breath of fresh air to the Reading community. I applaud him for his dedication and commitment. Thank you CNN for recognizing Officer Alvin Robinsons' service.

We proudly agree that Officer Robinson is worthy being recognized at this time.He is truly a dedicated officer. He donates a great deal of his time assisting the youth and helping to better our community whenever the opportuniy arises. Besides helping to enforce the law, he is a role model for our youth and adults. We wish him the best of luck in whatever he seeks to accomplish.
Thanks CNN for the recognition of Officer Robinson.
