"Historical Keepsake Photo"

Our friends on Team Tony blogged about it this morning: the legislative aide of a Tennessee state senator is reprimanded for e-mailing a "Historical Keepsake Photo" of our nation's presidents. Can you guess which president's portrayal caused all the hubbub?

Some state lawmakers are calling for the aide, Sherri Goforth, to be fired. Kyra asked Goforth's boss about that this afternoon.

It is unbelieveable that someone would create something like that in 2009! It shouldn't be acceptable anywhere in the world, even as a joke!

This reminds me of that racial cartoon from the NEW YORK TIMES where the 2 cops shot a black know the rest!

What I dont get is they arrest people even having child porn on their computer even after Deleted with daTa forensics which is fine but this is almost as if someone accidently sent it out with their email. Im not saying she should go to jail but isnt the fact that she even had it or kept it in the same computer which was bought by tax payers money enough to fire the person. Maybe the republican party needs to spend more time with other races because even though they deny it, we now know that their staffers pass racially offensive materials between themselves. Im assuming it wasnt somethng from home so it was obTained from another person at work and I would like to know where it came from and how many other staffers are improperly using taxpayers computers

Just curious, if the e-mail is not reflective of State Senator Black's office. why would one continue to have a staffer/aide who does not exemplify the belirfs of the office work for you. I wonder if the answers to your excellent questions would have been the same if President Obama were standing in front of her asking them! It is truly sad in this day and age that we continue to see this kind of "humor "displayed and have those who think it is funny as well.

She need to "Goforth" right out of her job; She should be fired for blatant racist activity.
I think, in a work environment, there should be certain things that call for immediate dismissal from a job and outspoken, even email version, should be one of those circumstances.

She should be ashamed of herself. People were harder on David Letterman for his poor joke about Sarah Palin's family than this event.

To joke about a person's race is stupid and a form of hatred.
I fail to understand how people think that racial jokes of this sort are funny.
As a black person, I do think some racial things are funny if done good naturedly. This is not one of them.
Shame on her; I hope she gets help; she is not in touch.

If she hit the wrong button, or sent it to the wrong people (duh!), Then that means it was intended for some group. Who told her what people should receive it, and who directed her to send it in the first place?

If she was just following orders, then the person responsible for telling her to do it, should be revealed, then fired. If she did it on her own, then she should be fired.

It\'s also possible that the reason she\'s not losing her job, is to protect the identity of the real culprit. If she\'s fired, then she has no reason to keep quiet. Let\'s see if she gets a bigger bonus this year, or some other perk, for taking the heat and remaining quietly \"guilty\".

As a direct desendent of General John Sevier the first Gov. of the great state of Tennessee and a real American. I think there is no excuse for these actions, and the people involved should fired. The party members that take part in these kind of actions weather it be photos, songs ect. should be ran out of office! They make a laughing stalk oui of the fine people of Tennessee and all Americans. All this race crap should be left behind.

She needs to be fired for racial harassment, not doing her job and unauthorized used of state computers.

There is her verbal warning, written warning and dismissal all in one.

Working for free is just a way to ensure the management stays. If they cannot manage for profit and pay the employees, they should probably resign. It is not uncommon for managers to work people 60 hours for 40 hours pay during hard times.

I heard about the position for this airline company from your report. I think it would be difficult for someone to work a month for free. If they have expenses they would have to have a means to pay them to keep from getting behind. If they have a partner/spouse that would pick up the difference and they can get by then I think it would be ok for a month. What would happen after the month and something would cause it to continue for them to work for free? Is this a volunteer option or not? As for me working for free, I have too many obligations that if I get behind a month, it throws everything late. Thank you and have a great day.
