*Besides the obvious, I mean!

Both were fodder for Tuesday's "What The...?" file:

Republican lawmakers in the pockets of giant Christian organizations are trying to make California's marriage contracts to be unbreakable and permanent.

The point being, if you are one of those Christian bible thumping wing-nuts, then it doesn't matter. Strippers, prostitution and sordid infidelity has no effect on their marriage contract.

The majority religions (Islam, Christianity) routinely treat women as second hand creatures and many laws preventing equality and empowerment of women have been removed over recent history.

Women need to stand up and loudly denounce all religious and political attempts to marginalize the entire female gender.

There is one more reason the wife is asking for payment for sex and the husband's a bum.

The reason many seem to think that an adultery is an unforgivable sin in the marriage is because they do not understand marriage. It is not a contract but a covenant, there is a big difference. Further more as christians we are to live by the words of God not by what we feel in our human flesh, this is war, but we are willing to accept this commitment. The word of God tells us that sins of the flesh are not powerful enough to destroy a covenant with God. I know this is deep and many christians do not yet understand that because your spouse have a weakness, this does not nullify your marriage. Jesus put it this way, "let him that is without sin, cast the first stone". I am all for making marriage covenants unbreakable and permanent. Maybe people will think long and hard before just running to the church.
