While the President, ecnomists and business leaders are figuring out what to do to create jobs, we're doing our own "job summit" every Thursday in the CNN NewsRoom.
Today we featured three laid-off job seekers and we'll have their pitches posted here soon.
Jean Senat is expecting his first child in a few weeks and has been looking for work since Februrary.
He is an experienced investment accountant and if you have a job for him e-mail him at:
jsenat@gmail.com
We're also featuring Jay Joseph, a man experienced in marketing and security.
He's currently in Philadelphia and if you have a job for him e-mail him at:
doublejrocks@aol.com
And our third pitch for the day is Atlanta resident Barry Jabbar Sykes.
The father of four is experienced as a hardware technician for an international communications company.
If you have a job for him you may e-mail him at:
rynajho@yahoo.com
In the meantime if you want to be part of the pitch e-mail your resume and some details about your situation to: 30secondpitch@cnn.com
30 SECOND PITCH
Hello America! I am the American worker. I have a pair of worn out steel toed shoes and arthritis in my hands. I paid $4.00 a gallon for gas to drive to work 6 days a week. I had 5 weekends off last year. I never call in sick and had to beg for vacation time.
Now, I am unemployed. I hear the news of outrageous retirement packages for C.E.O.'s and record profits for companies everywhere. I struggle to buy a gallon of milk for my kids.
I would gladly pay $6.00 a gallon for gas and work 70 hours a week once again. I will work for minimum wage, pay insane premiums for health care, and not ask for vacation time, if I could only find a job.
Keep your billion dollar retirement package. Enjoy your billion's in profits. Laugh at me while you retire on your own tropical island.
I work for the pride of taking care of my family, holding my head up in public, and knowing that I contribute to society. I'm not greedy.
Keep your greed! I'll keep my pride! We both get what we want. AND...I know who the better man is!
My name is Jason Emmons. I am currnet with a job agent but they have not been calling me for a job assignment from August 2008 till last week of July 2009. Work for August 2009 and one job assignment for September and now I am still waiting for a job assignment since September 2009. Yes, I have been applying for a job but no luck finding a job. I live in Nashville, TN.
I know Jabbar! We went to Morehouse together! He's brilliant and an overall good guy! I hate to hear him say that he has to use his first name on his resume because his middle name sounds "TOO BLACK". We spent four years at Morehouse College celebrating the fact that it was okay to be smart, talented and black!
Jabbar, hit me up ASAP....I think I can help! joncroel@gmail.com
I think this is a great project CNN has taken on. I am working with my partners at PM to help people looking for jobs. In this economy, people need all the help they can get and I applaud CNN for all you are doing,
