Passenger tackles terror suspect on NWA flight

CNN is learning the amount of explosive found on Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day was enough to blow a hole into the side of the aircraft and take it down.

That's according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Fredricka Whitfield spoke with a passenger who tackled the suspect and helped stop the attack.

Holiday Travel Concerns

The holidays are already a busy and often frustrating time to fly. With the attempted terror attack on a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, there are likely to be even more long lines and added security in the coming days.

How to speed up airport security

In the wake of what the government is calling a failed terrorism attempt on an inbound international flight, federal officials are saying security efforts at airports could take longer.
This comes on one of the busiest flying weekends of the year.
The TSA has tips on how to speed up the airport security process.

Coming up on this CNN Saturday Morning...

A passenger on a U.S.-bound flight Friday ignited a small explosive device in a move the White House called an attempted terrorist attack.

The President has instructed "that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel," White House spokesman Bill Burton told CNN.
