According to a recent survey almost 50% of Americans lack $10,000 dollars or more in retirement savings. While much of this is attributed to job losses, mortgage problems and the suspension of corporate 401(k) matches the economy isn’t entirely to blame. Experts say there is an increasing gap between what Americans have actually saved and what they need for retirement. So, in the end more Americans are prolonging retirement simply because they cannot afford it.
