He needs to concentrate on repealing the AZ 1070 law and bring about true immigration reform that deals with securing our borders and taking care of those already here.

He needs to separate the Classification of Cannabis "Hemp" from the psychoactive Variety, Legalize the most useful plant on the planet, Create an entirely new (Non-Drug) Industry and END the war against peaceful Cannabis consumers (American Citizens), we have the highest (Non-Violent) prison population of any other Country in the World, It`s time we use some "Common Sense" and try something New.
Our current Government is Insane, The definition of "Insanity" is doing the SAME thing, Over and Over again, Expecting different results!
When will someone "Wake Up" and see that Prohibition NEVER works, It did NOT work back in the 20`s with Alcohol and it will NOT work NOW!!

I would like to see the President focus on the new Arizona immigration law. A lot of African-American people including myself look Hispanic, Latino, or Middle Eastern. In Houston TX people walk up to me speaking Spanish. When I lived in Seattle someone asked me if I was Latino, and on a trip from Seattle Washington to Houston TX the airline personnel thought I was Middle Eastern. Also a dark skin African-American can be mistaken for a Native African and harassed by police more than he or she is already.

Focus on "staying involved publicly and keeping promises" ..

"promises" Are what get Presidents elected .. "Keeping them" and "Staying involved with the people" are what get them re-elected .

i.e. New energy – Take over all ROOFTOPS in the big cities and FILL them w/ WIND & SOLAR energy .. just a hint , it'll add up to a lot ....

News agencies need to "keep them honest"
Looks like we all have our work cut out for us : )

Obama said ....."We are a nation of laws".........Why should some people be allowed to break the law?

Every country in the world has immigration laws. Obama needs to enforce our laws.

    This is looong overdue....
It should have been done at the beginning of the Bush administration but didn't happen then or later when it was on the table twice.
Everybody agrees the system is broken but somehow we don't fix it so it can be used politically one way or the other to get votes.
Get it done, get it over with and move to the next reform, the country is moving FORWARD now!

We should open the border to Hispanic immigration, as a Cuban American it is hard to see the plight of those who are denied the ability to provide for themselves. It is our duty to create a just society and to persecute people because of where they were born is unconscionable.

President Obama offered hope for a population that is more marginalized in America than many realize- the LGBT community. It is time for him to live up to campaign promises and do what he can to fight "don't ask, don't tell" and the unacceptable restrictions regarding marriage and the rights excluded from LGBT couples because they are not allowed this choice.

President Obama should focus on ending the War on Drugs. By RE-legalizing cannabis and its derivatives, he can create jobs, reduce illegal immigration (because jobs would be available in desperate countries), alleviate strain on law enforcement and border patrol, generate tax revenue, and save tens of billions of taxpayer dollars every year.
It is political fear and self-serving motivation which stops him from doing so. This is NOT why I elected him.

I have to laugh at all the mouths saying the new Arizona, anti-ILLEGAL law, is "racist". What race do they think most Mexicans and Latinos are? Because of where I'm at in the world, I just got the replay of this story and heard the blurb from former AZ gov. Napolitano. I find it ridiculous that she would say that this new law would hinder enforcement of the federal immigration laws when she, as Governor, hindered enforcement by instructing the law enforcement agencies within the state to ignore the federal law and they weren't even allowed to investigate illegal immigrants employed within the state when they were pointed out to the cops. Arpaio was the only one who blatantly told her and her administration to get bent and he was going to enforce the law as it was written. Enforce the darn laws on the books, stop making laws the are so redundant, confusing and contradictory that they hamstring the police force, and let the cops do their jobs.

The two most pressing issues are Jobs and Jobs. I don't understand why we pay individuals unemployment benefits and they get to sit at home and do nothing. Why don't we put them to work to get their "unemployment" benefits. Then they get an income and we get something for our money.
Then it is our security. Stop the spread of nuclear weapons. God help us if Iran gets a bomb.

Immigration Reform by requiring all immigrant to learn English. All applicant must pass back ground check. You can't generalized 911 with illegal immigrant, today many US citizen become terrorists. Close the border at the same time. Illegal immigrant already part of the economy it will just hurting more because they are part of 20% of this economy. by back ground check this will squeeze the terrorist and criminals. Good people will be happied to be back ground check.

I believe that our President has been ignoring Immigration Reform and he needs to act on it, and act now before it escalates. If he doesn't do anything about immigration soon he will not be getting my vote in 2012 and thats for sure. He gave the Hispanic community a promise when running for president and he needs to step up to the challenge!

Thank God for this new Immigration Law in Arizona! The United States is plagued by Illegal Immigrants. Just think they come over here and have children then, the American tax dollars pay for that child(Medicaid, food stamps, WIC, and health checks). The people that are here illegally and their illegitimate children need to go back where they came from or they need to pay taxes like everybody else. We have to stop the free ride!! If a child is born in the United States from illegal immigrants, that child along with its parents need to be deported. When the child reaches 18 years of age they would have the opition to apply for citizenship.

I have an idea. How about President Obama deliever on his most vital promise...Bringing both sides together for the "GOOD OF ALL" instead of causing such a divide. The way the Prsident condecends those that oppose is shameful to watch and that so called "Tea Party Rheteroric" is in every speech he gives. Just cause he says things a certain way and twist this and that, the context is always clear....Condescending the American people is a huge miscalculation by the President. I guess the same people in charge may have been pre-occupied at the SEC;)

    Next on the president's plate.

Based on the numerous and significant mistakes being uncovered in the recently passed health care bill, I strongly suggest studying this bill in detail for the first time and determining the extent to which it will cost everyone now and in the years to come.

Nancy Pelosi was irresponsible when she stated "Let's passed the health care bill so we can find out what's in it"

Then when this is done, shift to the economy. A strong economy will bring in more tax revenue and if handled responsibly, the extra revenue will pay down the recklessly accumulated debt.

With Congress working on new legislation today to cap insurance premiums, this would not have been an issue if the bill was understood by those who wrote it and understood by the administration that gleefully signed it.

It's time to pass responsible legislation.

The Arizona fascist law will take care of itself. It will bring immagration to the forefront next year.

The housing crisis is still in the negative. Fannie and Freddie need cleaned up big time. Lots of work to get done, housing is a top priority.

  40. Steve Ryan

Hi TJ, I enjoy your program. Obama has let his "health care program consume him and has lost focus of what is really happening in this country. Unemployment and education are the two most important issues with everyone I talk to. Now of course imigration has taken the lead in this race. Illegals have been pouring into Arizona and the government has done little to stop this influx and now the people of this country want this issue adressed and taken care of and to give immunity will be total caos

The School Board of Ware County in Waycross, GA is attempting to close the Ware Magnet School. This school is ranked top 3 in the State of Georgia. 98%-100% graduation rate!!!! Please do a story on this and help save this wonder school!!! The President needs to focus on cuts in our education system.

Please, TJ, talk about the president ending the war on marijuana. It is a viable option for solving many of our country's problems. All Obama would have to do is encourage the Congress to lift the federal laws against it. Then, the states can legitimize the industry.

New energy, such as Sarah Palin suggested. I agree with much of what Watch3r13 posted except 'taking over rooftops'. We don't need more government takeover or we will be a socialist nation. Perhaps rooftops that could withstand the stress might be LEASED. In reality, the best thing he could do for our country is to Resign! He is a disaster! He has no clue how to manage a country! However, he is an excellent politican. He buys votes with our tax money.

The president must focus on a comprehensive immigration reform by securing our borders, granting Amnesty to people who entered the country legally but are out of status(I mean people with expired I-94 CBP document) and people who entered the country illegally. The President must repeal the new Arizona immigration law immediately because the history of America tells us that this country was founded with immigrants from Africa, Europe and the Southern American Continent. This is what makes this country unique on this planet.

When illegal aliens run the country and our politicians, demand rather than abide by US law, there is something seriously wrong in the country.
Commiting murder, dealing in drugs and trafficking in women will not be tolerated by US citizens.

We are a nation of laws. And they broke them – knowingly.

Open the White House to the 12million unemployed instead of hosting the NY Yankees and getting ready for the correspondents dinner. This President is so out of touch with the American people its a shame. What happened to LASER FOCUS ON JOBS. As far as Arizona goes, once again the MAJORITY of the people in the state support this law passing, Obama should be supporting the will of the people. He needs to remember, HE is responsible for securing our borders not the state of Arizona. Obama left the state no choice but to protect its residents.

"Out-sourcing " we need jobs ... not immigration reform. Does anyone at CNN have the guts to declare that Arizona has no new immigration law? and that its a law that has been on the books and IGNORED for centuries? And please admit that illegal immigration is a CRIME and does harm to the American quality of life, and sends 2 billion American dollars back to mexico every month.

He is a multi tasker doing extremely well as evidenced by his success in each respective project domestically & internationally. He would know better than any of us how and what to "focus" on and at what time. I trust his judgement based on his track record. Big difference from the last President who did nothing but allow the country to collapse because of his inaction. Its ashame that it is so obvious he has no help from the the Republicans because they have no integrity and are only concerned about their vested self interests instead of the countries interests. Voters need to take heed of what they have done or failed to do NOT what they say to curry favor for votes.

I believe the President has actually taken on too much. He stays on that plane all of the time trying to accomplish every problem deal with every situation as if he weren't a human being with a family.I've lived a long time seen alot of Presidents this man is running all over the world and domestically as if he weren't the President but rather a representative of the President. Even though he is rushing around trying to appease every situation or reconcile every grievance and bring solace to every crisis, It seems as though he isn't allowed time to take a bath or wash his cape. He hasn't found me a job and what about this border, problems with this nation or that and it seems there's always a complaint about those promises what about those promises...even I am guilty of not appreciating the overwhelming effort this human-being has put forth as if there is no tomorrow....The man convinced somebody to give us Health Care, The economy seems to be turning around, Life just might get better even though we are still struggling, I've lived through the 'Jim Crow' era in this country, That era lasted through many Presidents and it was people of the country that brought about that change through struggles and votes. There is a problem high lighted in Chicago that is actually an American problem that the President will not be able to handle, that problem as well will take the people educated and determined people coming together and pooling there information once again and handle it. Then submit to those Representatives and Congress members that information to exact the changes that are necessary for change. This President is continually being criticized for not doing enough I believe we as a Nation we need to show a little more appreciation for the great accomplishments and the tremendous courage that this Man has displayed and say thanks every once in a while,
    Thanks Mr. President

Mayor Gordon of Phoenix flat out lied today when he said SB1070 would allow law enforecement to go into restaurant kitchens and ask for documentation. SB1070 mirrors federal law and "Probable Cause" IS is mandatory. MSM, Mayor Gordon and the special interests are deliberately obfuscating the truth when they participate in scaremongering propaganda. Violence is rampant in in Arizona and we have a right to be safe in our homes, our vehicles, and our neighborhoods. Violence in American cities is rampant and has to be brought under control. Where's your outrage that Chicago Mayor Daley is requesting troops to help stem the tide of gang violence and murder in his city? Is he a racist? Who do you think make up these gangs? You all need a dose of reality. Illegal immigration is destroying the fabric of our country. As for being a 'racist', I don't have to deny something I am not.

He should be tackling a number of things just like He's been doing! And if the country pulls together We might get things done!!! But the republicans are spending 98% of their energy to make sure Obama doesn't succeed not because His ideas are bad infact some of the very ideas put into the health care bill were republican ideas!!! But because they can't let Obama win! Really when You look at what the Republicans are doing (blocking the president no matter what!) This issue is and will always be the most imperitive and if you dont realize this you are probably very self absorbed. I'm 19 (and have a tendency to be a bit of an "elitist" like Obama) however I honestly believe ignorance and apathy are dangerously pervasive amoung my generation if not most of our society. I believe that being uneduacted is like a dog chained to a pole with no-one or nothing in sight. Life is to be explored, we must travel internally and externally in order to find happiness. Which is the end. All other things are means to an end. However if a person is not able to articulate their own thoughts, emotions, passions, whatever.... They are imprisoned. According to Descartes our senses are like candle wax. If we didn;t understand the concept of wax we would have no idea why its so maleable. Our senses are also illusions if we cannot conceptualize and understand. Life is ALL ABOUT LEARNING!! The Millineals have the right to a good educations!! Lets add it to the bill of RIGHTSS!!

President Obama needs to focus on what Congress has decided to ignore:

The thousands of families whose unemployment benefits are running out every day. We need a Teir V unemployment extention as soon as possible.

Congress is failing them again. They are ignoring the people they have reduced to poverty. The long term unemployed did not create this
depression ,Congress did by failing not to properly regulate banks, health industry, and corporations. People who were fully employed, paying taxes, and raising families are now paying the price for Congress's negligence.
The new jobs bill only helps the recently unemployed and will not help over half of the people on unemployment.
America's unemployed families are now on the path to shelters and soup kitchens

I believe Obama and members of the Senate are deliberately avoiding tackling the simple subject of federal estate taxes. They want 2010 to be a year without estate taxes to enable the extremely wealthy families in this country to be able to let their family trusts dissolve without paying what might amount to a trillion dollars in federal estate taxes. I was taught in law school back in the 1980s that trusts can avoid estate taxes but can only exist for "50 years plus life in being." This means that the youngest baby alive in the family at the time the trust was formed plus 50 years is the extent of time the trust can exist without taxes being paid. Thus all the great trusts created by robber barons, Dole fruit company, etc. in the early to mid 20th century are about due to expire. My trust professor told us there would have to be a year where there were no federal estate taxes so that these families could dissolve their old trusts before they expired, and create new trusts to protect their wealth for another 100 years. A lot of us had trouble believing the American government could be so corrupt that they'd allow a year without estate taxes. Now I know the professor was right in his prediction.

    Sweeping Federal Immigration Reform

Sweeping Cap and Trade and EPA legislation with real teeth and real consequences to Big OIL's toxic practices.

    Jobs Creation

Shut Down ALL oversea's cold era US Military Bases which have no immediate need to exist in the world today.

    Sweeping Middle Peace treaty

Begin shutting down NSA,CIA and US Military Black projects which suck up hundreds of Billions of Taxpayer dollars with no accountability on their utter failures.

Begin merging Federal Agency's whose functions largely overlap one another.

Significantly roll back and FREEZE all US Defense and US Military spending and allocations. Resist the blatant Republican push to replace 90% of all the US Military equipment used in Iraq and Afghanistan with new and improved ones.

He has a team that can focus on various issues, he ain't alone so the question is why is so much importance left for him alone. US seems to love heroic figures probably an afflication of Hollywood. Obama's teams are achieving on several fronts and the media should focus on various issues than just what the Prezzi has next on his table. To me Gay Marriage and Equality is important but than in the US they are not discussed WHY? because it more about political survival and showbiz than actual Human Rights that Canada focuses on.

How's about bringing our soldiers home so they can spend time teaching our Christian American children. Also, since there are only about a million unhappy muslims living in cults around the USA...find a way to send them back to where they came from. The same for the worried illegal Mexicans. They shouldn't be here illegally looking over their shoulders. We should be reassured by the White House that we only borrowed from China for practice. We don't really need any money to show up because it keeps getting misplaced into private individuals accounts. Our USA budget is quite secure with our own resources, gold, salt, coal, and oil to name some of these wonderful resources. Also, encourage Christian Americans to get a prayer rug and use it on their coffee breaks. It will look good on the news.

I don't think thats a wise decision because they inpose marshall law and that will be a big problem because of curfews could you amagine what would happen if one of those kids shot at those guards I yhink that is not the solution

He is quoted as saying we are a nations of laws...

We need to go back to President Lincoln. The viewpoint in THAT era was "We should repeal half the laws and never pass another"

Stop trying to socialize America and bring the USA back into a world leading country, instead of being owned by China, run by the Taliban, and placing 1 in 4 men in a jail or prison.

America is not, nor will it ever be...owned by China...and people speaking this only adds fear that the GOP wishes to spread to unthinking people! President Obama, continue to Lead this country on the path you've been given...Turning around all the chaos we've been put in...Who borrowed the money from China in the beginning? Trust if China owned America...there would be no We The would be We the Republic!!!

I realize I am dreaming but would love him to find a way to downsize Congress in an equitable way to save our tax dollars. With 21st century technology there has to be a less expensive way to legislate without the office staff, utilities, travel expense, etc.

It would be nice to have the federal legislators closer to home and their constituents voices, not primarily the lobbyists, perhaps with modern communication tools and transportation modes, some of the state legislators could double as federal legislators and receive one pay check.

I would like him to focus a little more on the retired on SSI. As everybody knows Lawmakers froze SSI's raise while giving themselves a raise!! After telling SSI recipiants there wasn't enough money a lack of funds. The retired were promised a stimulus payment of $250.00!! Where is it? Are we going to get one?

President Obama please try to come up with a solution for this AZ immigration problem that will satisfy both sides.
I am aware that you can't please half of the people all the time, & that you have an awful lot to keep you busy, but if you will sir, please look into pushing this issue a little closer to the top.
I see both sides of this problem & understand both.
AZ feels they are being terrorized in their home state & we all have a right to a peaceable life.
The immigrants are fleeing their home state due to chaos & unrest.
Surely there is something that can be done other than this harsh crack down that I remind you will affect not only those who live in AZ but people who are of hispanic descent everywhere as other states are considering following suit. And or even those whose initial appearance seems to be of hispanic descent.
I implore you President Obama to please make this issue your next to focus on after the oil spill issue of course.
    Thank you so much

CNN please ask our President to take a look at the West Virginia workers compensation laws most people believe they demonstrate age discrimination. West Virginia disabled workers are really suffering because of these laws and we know our president understands the law.

This President is working long hours to clean up the mess and to implement his visions of a new America. He need NOW to do what it takes to bring peace between the people of Israel and Palestine. This, I think, will change the thinking of radical Muslims, and safe guard Americans.

He needs to stay in the White House and stop acting like the celebrity he is not. David Brook's said last Sunday on Meet the Press that he's running around everywhere blabbing and blabbing and no one's listening. He's overexposed and tiresome. He's wasting our tax dollars with a White House office he rarely uses. We should move it to Air Force One. Can't imagine and don't want to know what he's cost this nation in the past 1.5 years in Air Force One expenses.

The President should look to settle the Iran deal first, then look at his illegal, undocumented problem. i would make it a mandate that those who want to receive a resident allien card should be mandated to serve in the millitary one three year term. That would get rid of about half (that would rather go back where they came from). The next thing would be to get an admenment to the constitution to where it would read that a child of illegal parents would be issued a "cert of birth abroad" therefore allowing for the children to be shipped back to country of orgin with his/her parents. i feel this is more human than separation of familys. It would also save children from having to go to homes under CYFD and going under the welfare program.
