I think the public should be told to stay out of the water. I was effected from the IXTOC oil spill that reached Padre Island beaches while I was vacationing and swimming in the water. There were no warnings signs ever posted to stay out of the water. I'm sure Tourism dollars came first back then, not the health safety of others.
Contact with crude oil is not always visible because it settles sometimes at the bottom of the ocean floor. Even short periods can cause serious health problems, such as lung cancer, leukemia, your skin being more prone to UV rays and burns, especially a lifetime of follicle blockage- meaning hair never grow back and you have red inflamed scarring for life.
The news has a responsibility to keep BP and the Tourism Industry honest. Tourism dollars should not be more important than public safety. The public should not be in the water. Keep them out! Hold them accountable. The consequences of not keeping them honest will harm Americans for life.
