Some off us make purchases throughout the year, without realizing that there are certain times when it’s more advantageous to buy things. By advantageous, I mean it could save you money. In these challenging economic times it’s important to save as much money as possible. A great way to make that dollar stretch is to know the best times to buy. I’ve compiled a list of a few items and the best time to make purchases.

Airline tickets for example, shouldn't be purchased 60 days in advance unless you're the type of person that is not fond of uncertainty. The best deals are had by the savvy buyers that buy about 21-23 days in advance.

Gas should never be purchased on the weekend, because that is generally when they have set the trap for the leisure traveler who really doesn't have an option as to if he should or shouldn’t get gas if traveling.

Appliances are always on sale during a holiday weekend so be ready to snatch up a deal around Labor Day.

Groceries are always great on Sundays because you usually have the Sunday coupons from the paper as well. Most stores tend to run sales Wednesday through Tuesday so time it just right to get the biggest bang.

Computers and electronics are best when purchased right after the new technology is announced, which seems to be happening daily.

The key is to make smart purchases. It all boils down to out with the old, and in with the new. Manufacturers have to make room for the new inventory that comes like clockwork; your job is knowing just when to chime in to make that purchase. If you're patient, do a little research and are prepared, you will save.
