The President's Faith

18% of Americans believe Pres. Obama is Muslim according to a new Pew Research Center poll.
That's up 11% from a year ago.
Cathleen Falsani, who is a religion columnist and author of "The God Factor," sat down with then-Senator Barack Obama in 2004 and talked to him about his faith.

I think one thing we have learned the last couple of years is you cannot believe everthing Mr. Obama says...now...it's in one ear out the other

Nor "everything" that anyone says. No one is totally "believable" in every instance. And over time, people learn more and thus change their views. I view that as being better than staying stuck in an original position when later circumstances change and thus views and actions change.

Thank you for sharing this interview.
I never had doubt that President Obama was or is a Christian and as the President of the United States is it difficult for him or any President to attend a church without interfering with the prayer and devotion of others in the same church.
I do believe that those who are looking for a reason (any reason) to not like President Obama whose is an excellent, intelligent President and moving American's in a positive direction forward will look for any key issue's like this one to get people off message and off task about fixing what American's really needs.
How does this issue of faith fix our broken politics with Republicans, help feed the hungry, help find jobs for Americans, help small businesses succeed so they can hire new or bring back old workers, help bring in innovation, help us grow the Green Environmental movement, help our many soldiers at war, help our schools educate our children in math and science so they can catch up to other nations, help us make sure the people of our country have good health care.

A true Christian (Christ follower) does not believe there are many paths to the "same place". What is the "same place" to him? What is his faith in? He basically gave another 'politically correct' statement that included as many religions as possible – to ensure votes. It would be nice to hear a clear, straight answer on this question!

Your news story this morning stated that 18 percent of Americans believe President Obama to be a Muslim, and suggested that he attend a Christian church in Washington, D.C. as a photo opp. to dispel the notion. What your report didn't explain is that even if he were a Muslim, what is wrong with that? If he were Hebrew, Jewish, Mormon, Catholic or a Buddhist, what is the problem with that? Is there some dictate that says a president of the United States has to be a card-carrying Christian only? I don't recall ever being taught that.

America never ceases to amaze me. She (America) is so arrogant and prideful until its actually become a downright disgrace. Never once in the history of this country has a President ever been so public scrutinized over his/her faith. Its a shame, that President Obama must continually go through all of this chaos in order to do a job that he was elected to do.

America has boasted so long in her efforts to be a free country but her freedom is only to those who feel like they have a right.

America is heading down a very dangerous road...fueled by Americans for a war so violent and bloody because she can't be humbled by allowing people to be and exist in what is supposed to be America the Free...the home of the Brave....God have mercy on these United States!

Look at the Rick Warren interview–the president confessed his faith in Jesus Christ before the nation and the world.–what more do you need?

I firmly believe in seperation of Church and State. I have not had any doubts that President Obama is Christian nor have I had any doubts that President Obama was born in the US. The US is made up of many diverse people and religions. All must be welcome. I also don't blame President Obama for all the economic problems that he is dealing with. I am trying to have patience it takes time and a little cooperation between parties (that is sorely lacking) to fix all that is broken.

“That a few differences” / Regardless of belief Jesus was/is a/the key to salvation, it is said that we were given the means (choice) so that we may save ourselves (and would/can), given the honor of key choice(s) that some just couldn’t accept (or handle). Somewhere in all our discussions as well as debates someone mistakenly (or not) has some people believing that if our Lord GOD didn’t want it this way it would change, everything would be different, thus it must be part of the Lords plan. Sitting around waiting for everything either to fix or end was the exact wrong choice of a certain 3rd that were cast out. The “What if” “has to admit” answer may be as easy/ simple as the beautiful combined pictorial of the triangles (star of David), semi-circle with star, and cross set in-between a man and woman sitting Indian style. There are only three major differences that separate the Torah, Bible, and Koran (a derivative of which/truly one and the same explained in a different way). They all admit themselves in comparison to fingers pointing the way to moon while instructing to concentrate on the moon and not so much on the fingers (Enter the Dragon/ right or wrong). The entire points of reason are suppose to be not letting a few differences get in the way of the truth of the word that was accepted, the awareness that there really is a lord our GOD and the undeniable fact that final judgment/ eternity, etc are his that we must trust. It is incomprehensible when trying to communicate that a few differences which are only the same words spoken in a different way (and/or people) can undermine all the rest. Regardless of circumstance of status each @ every high level position have to do something because it has not only been made out to be this way (as plan to be able to come to terms for each to figure out in their own way) but it is because of labels and status that they (as it is now) are the only ones who can do anything about it. They absolutely understand the word, its origins, and truth cannot be mocked or separated for any reason due to its significance. Everyone/ anyone regardless of circumstance admits someone is intentionally keeping us at each other’s throats, maybe if we can first all confirm that it isn’t at least the same person (or affiliated people) and then go from there we would all see better results. It's unreal how President Obama in constantly under a microscope over every single thing he does or believes in. If he were Muslim he'd admit it but he isn't so why can't we move on from this?

This president was run out of rev. Wrights church by the 24/7 media that charactorized the church as anti-white people. Remember Glen Beck thinks this president does not like white people either.
Now, that same Media outlet would like you to queastion his religon ,have you believe he is a muslim. The Republican senators will take him at his word that he is a christan.
    Are you kidding?
This is an example of corporations MANUFACTURING THE NEWS.
    Thank you supreme court .
You have opened pandoras box and now you can call yourself "fair & balanced" and donate 1 million to the Republican Party in the same breath. This is why as your previous writer ask "why we can not move on from this". If not this ,it will be another Shirley Sherrod ,or Acorn ,Scarry Black Panthers Guy,or some other trumped up story designed to keep you from thinking about the millions of Americans unisured or the 2 wars that are bankrupting our country , making some people rich, and killing other people.
Or the fact that the middle class is rapidly becoming the next dinosaur ,or mabye the fact that lobbyist are running and ruining this country and the supreme court just made it worse .
No after 2 years of campaining and 2 more years as president they will Question him on his religion again or his birth certificate or the need for more tax cuts for the top 2% but that was NOT a REDISTRIBUATION OF WEALTH. Or where you can or can not build the next religous Temple and talkl about the constitution in the same breath.
You have created and promoted the Tea-baggers so they can ride your billionare funded corporate busses and blindly support their corporate interest like stopping finacial reform or health care or paying enough Taxes to pay for the wars that you support.
This president is not in your corporate interest so he must be labeled something if not a muslim maybe a socialist will stick today.

It's hard to distinguish his "faith", or lack there of. He claimed during his campaign that he was "Chrisitian"; however, one photo the media will not show reveal is Obama praying in a Turkey Mosque.
On this point, faith aside, my question about this is: what kind of message does the President of the US, praying in a Mosque, send to the Israelis?
Why? The US is Israel's biggest ally, and the Muslim world hates the Jews. What a slap in the face to Israel.

Why does his faith matter?! I'm more worried about the country going to hell in a handbasket because we worry about topics that does not matter and do not look twice at topics that do. It is just another smokescreen so the American people cannot see what the people in Washington, (in all three branches of government), lining their pockets while the American people pay the bill. I think the current government, and since the 70's, has been UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
If you doubt that then look around you... do you think the next generation will be worse off or better off?!
