THE BIG I: Space Travel

Space travel hit a major milestone today in New Mexico.  The main runway for Virgin Galactic's Spaceport America is complete!

To find out how to book your spot in space, click here.

Today on The Big I, we also talked about a new kind of spacecraft called LightSail.  It harnesses the sun to help power the spacecraft.

The LightSail will be highlighted at the USA Science & Engineering Festival.  To see the other projects at the festival, click here.

    Hi Don,

I believe Juan Williams "blurted out" in error his fears about radical muslims, not the good ones. Radicalism, I believe, is in all races. I believe 9/11 is etched in many people's medulla oblangata. People are scared! He didn't mean to say it. It was spontaneously said. Give him a break. Other people do the most unspeakable things in their position, and look! They're right back on TV when they think people forgot about it. Leave it up to certain people to get fired. Thanks!

I think this space travel option is great!. I just hope the price to travel goes down a bit, just like price for cell phone service did since they were first introduced. We need more wealthy people to do extraordinary things for this world.

I think that space exploration is wonderful. I also think it is wonderful to have a big fat ribey steak every evening. The only problem is that by budget won't accomadate a thick juicy ribey every evening. It is killing me to see our government put so much money into this program right now. I mean in a mans world all that space stuff would be recreational, I understand there is alot to learn about outer space. But I think it can wait until we get our defecit resolved. I believe there are a lot of government programs that could be cut back, or even eliminated. Our government needs to prioritise things. And the American People should be the first thing on their priority list. We don't need space exploration, but we do need our economy fixed. We need a complete overhaul of how our crooked financial system works. Too many greedy people with a lot of money can completley change our lifestyles. That don't sound like the american way to me.
