Taking the Lead: Gas Prices Up

Prices at the pump are rising. Today's Taking the Lead looked at WHY.

Believe it or not, it's thanks to the Federal Reserve.

The Fed plans to drop $600 billion in the economy to get it moving again. That news sent the US dollar lower against other major currencies. Because the dollar is the standard currency for oil trades, barrels of crude oil got more expensive. Crude oil is the biggest ingredient in gasoline, so gas is now pricier.

Analysts expect it to rise 5 to 10 cents per gallon.

Mission Possible: Reality Stars' 26.2 Mile Battle

Reality stars Ryan Sutter (The Batchelorette) and Ethan Zohn (Survivor: Africa) went head-to-head in this weekend's NYC Marathon.

They ran 26.2 miles through 5 boroughs. The reason? Making the world better.

They were racing each other, with the winner getting money donated to the charity he supports.

Ryan is with First Descents, an organization that empowers young adults with cancer through outdoor "adventure therapy" – things like kayaking and rock climbing.

Ethan is the co-founder of Grassroots Soccer, which uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. Ethan was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma last year, and is in remission.

Their final race times? Ryan finished at 3 hours and 20 minutes, Ethan in 4 hours and 16 minutes. Impressive!

Conan's Back Tonight!

Conan O'Brien makes his big return to late night television tonight. He’s been off the air since January, when NBC canceled Leno's primetime hour after disappointing ratings. NBC paid O'Brien and his staff an estimated $40 million to clear the way for Leno to return to the "Tonight Show" host chair he handed off to O'Brien last year.

So, there's been plenty of hype surrounding the debut of Conan's much-anticipated new show. Actors Seth Rogen and Lea Michele will be guests on the first episode of "Conan," which airs Monday at 11 p.m. ET on TBS. So, we want to know do you think Conan will claim late night's top spot knocking out Leno and Letterman? And do you think his new show will live up to all the hype? Share your thoughts with us and Kyra Phillips will read some of your responses during the 10am ET hour of CNN Newsroom.
