Newly released "calming" beverage Just Chill is said to be the "anti-four loko". The twenty-one year old founder and CEO of The Chill Group, Inc., Max Baumann, wanted to provide students with something healthier and that would calm them of the stressors that often drive individuals to the consumption of alcohol.
Being a student at Santa Barbara City College, Baumann noticed that students needed a beverage to "...calm their nerves and make them more focused, not make them jittery and out of control..." so he began to research the active ingredients. From his research, and the research of his partners, Russell and Robert, they all found a common ingredient, L-theanine. This is an ingredient that they found was extracted from green tea and The Chill Group, Inc. team agreed that this would be a great choice for their leading ingredient.
President of The Chill Group, Inc., Robert Young, added that they noticed individuals wanted to relax, and that their use of the "jitter juice" was not the right drink for them. This is what motivated their quest to provide the public with a healthier beverage. To learn more about Just Chill, click here

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned four companies that their caffeinated alcoholic beverages have brought about several health concerns and could be seized under federal law. It was reported that government officials in several states have began taking action towards banning some alcoholic energy drinks from stores. The caffeine level in the drinks can mask the effects of alcohol, not allowing drinkers to recognize the amount of alcohol that has been consumed.
Some say that consuming one Four Loko is equivalent to consuming a few cups of coffee and a few beers. The FDA began to research this drink in 2009, and the research went into overdrive in October when nine underage students at a university in Washington were hospitalized after consuming Four Loko along with mixed drinks. Officials advise consumers to drink responsibly, and that mixing these drinks may not be in your best interest because there is no way to tell when enough is enough.
