You Choose! Winner and Losers!

Winning Story! Option #1 – TSA agents gave what one man calls "intrusive" pat-downs to passengers, including kids, who were getting OFF an Amtrak train in Savannah, Georgia last month.  Florida Fire Lieutenant Brian Gamble posted this video on You Tube. You can see the agents patting the kids down. Gamble says he was among about 40 people getting OFF the train who were ordered by TSA agents to be searched. Turns out there was a random search operation going on and the arriving passengers were accidently roped into it. The TSA has apologized for the inconvenience.

Option #2 – An Arizona high school teacher has been fired because of a bumper sticker on her car. It reads "Have you drugged your kid today?" The teacher, Tarah Ausburn, says society is over-medicating hyperactive kids.. and this is her way to protest. Some parents complained about the sticker and she was later fired when she refused to take it off her car. Right now she's fighting to get her job back. CNN link

Option #3 – A hug for a good Samaritan. Carl Shafer drove 700 miles round trip to retrieve and return a car to an elderly Ohio couple. The car was stolen several weeks ago and later found in Kansas City. But due to health issues, the couple couldn't go get the car back. So Shafer decided to lend a hand and get the car for them.. What a nice jester.. Click here to read more/see video

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a white male only scholarship. Hello...there are scholarships specifically for other ethnic/racial groups and no one is crying out racism for those. As a hispanic female, I always wondered why there weren't scholarships for Caucasians. Luckily, as a Hispanic I was eligible to apply for numerous scholarships for college, if I were White, I would've still been paying off college loans.

It's a great idea. Why does every other race have things handed to them but when the race is white it's a crime. I have had enough of reverse discrimination or affirmitive action whatever you want to call it. If anything that sets us back 50 years. No one should be asked what race they are on a job application or anything else except maybe the US Census.

I am commenting on the issue about all white male educational funding. First off, why do you think that is news? Do you think it is more newsworthy than the united negro fund only giving money to black people? (Which by the way is one of your advertisements) Are there white people claiming they don't get money from that venue? I don't think reverse discrimination is any more right, than the other way around. If someone is giving money away for educational purposes, they have a right to give it to whomever they want.

I see no problem with a White Male College Fund. The viewer that stated this will "take us back 50 years" causes me to wonder if the United Negro College Fund is a problem for this viewer as well? America is a vast and diverse country that can absorb both white and negro college funds without issue.

I mean no disrespect, but all of these issues are worth discussing. I know you are trying to entice more viewers to watch, but this is not the way. Sweeping two equally important issues under the rug while you discuss only one is against freedom of press if you really want to get technical about it, but I have never seen CNN dismiss issues before and I don't think there is any legitimate reason why you should start now.

I do not see anything wrong with a White-Only Scholarship. There's scholarships out there for all different types of races. I don't understand why people are saying it's taking us back, it's racist. I don't hear anyone pulling the racist card with all the other scholarships out there.

Forty years ago I was told on tow occasions following a job interview that I was the best candidate for the job, but could not be hired because I was a white male. All preferential treatment for jobs is wrong. Scholarships are a different matter.

#2 – Yet another assult on teachers and freedom of speech
"Why in the world is everyone turning on teachers in our society? Now they can't even have bumper stickers for fear of offending someone? What's next, their clothing will be regulated for fear of offending someone? Why don't we all just wear masks and costumes making us the same so that we won't offend anyone. The next thing that is going to come out is politicians and "others" saying for us to just have home schooling so that children won't have to learn to think for themselves...we wouldn't want to stress them out by actually using their brains! This is CRAZY!

I totally agree that this is a great scholarship! When my daughter graduated from High School we were looking for a scholarships for her. I cannot tell you how many she did not qualify for because she was NOT a minority. In fact, given she had a 27 on her ACT, she was elibile to go to Howard University. The only problem was that she was not black. Howard is a BLACK university. Try having an all white university and see what happens. I actually feel that scholarships should be based on academics alone and not on one's race or althletic skills.

Please tell the black, bigoted reporter whom was interviewed at approx 2:50pm est. that, for years, we've seen tv ads promoting scholarship for the United Negro Fund and for black colleges. I donated because I think it's important. But, guess what, its also important for white males to be able to afford college. My own boys could use that scholarship.
A true bigot wants all for themselves and none for their target (enemy) race. Such is the case w/ this bigoted female reporter. She wouldn't even acknowledge that there was a scholarship for black males and that it is only fair for white males to have the same opportunities. Shame on her! Shame! Shame! Shame!

The education grants given to only white men, is fair! Considering that presently in the U.S.A. they are left out, there is help for the minorities, but not for the whites men, and today's white men population are not responsible for the slavery done before they were even born!

On the subject of the White Only Scholarships
The young man explained there is nothing political about the scholarship and that they are only trying to help poor whites that cannot afford to futher their education. Theres nothing wrong with this at all. This does not make us take a step backwards because if you look at the Republican Party and the cuts they would prefer to make in education and not only at the elementary and secondary levels but the cuts will also affect higher education. So instead of trying to make a big issue out of something for individuals in need look at the bigger picture we as Americans are facing.

I am extremely distressed that TSA is searching people who aren't even traveling! I would like to know from the people who were there why they didn't resist. If that had happened to me, you can bet I'd refuse. I would not let a single person touch me or my bags, because TSA does not have the power to detain anyone. If a police officer were there, I'd say, "Am I being detained? If so, what is your articulable suspicion? Am I free to go? I do not consent to a search. I just want to go free on my way. Am I being detained?" They have to have articulable suspicion to search you, and they have to have a warrant to search your things, and the only recourse that lets TSA get away with doing these unreasonable searches is holding the "do you want to fly" threat over your head. If you don't want to travel, what can TSA do to you if you say no? Wake up, America, and exercise your rights or you deserve to lose them.

Ali, this group’s scholarship program is really about regaining privilege and advantage. They now have to compete on a level playing field and they feel disadvantaged. They have had this advantage for the past four hundred years. Welcome to the 21st century. Smoke screen!

This is just another ploy to be added to the alreadly institutionalized racism that still exist in a racist country. And the first thing whites will bring up is blacks are going to use race card. Well they are the one's who have have created this Joker to make it deceptive to American society. And dont be fool with the lies that these donations arent coming from racist groups and they wont accept them. History has shown in fact for centuries that they continue to use underlying bigotry practices. Who are the corporations, news medias, public utilities, and most of the United States goverment controlled by? I think everyone knows the answer to this. This is the main reason organizations needed to be created for the minorites in this racist country because institionalized racism still exist and white males still prosper in staying ontop of the pay scale ladder as they continue to step on the head of minorities behind them. We need to create laws abolishing these types of deceptive futuristic ideals that continue to creep into our society with their agenda that continues to fuel a sociology imbalance. This speaker said he wasnt around 30 years ago .....duh....research your history before concluding that you dont see anything wrong in havng "White Male Scholarships.

I just saw an interview with Kyra Phillips and a man in Virginia concerning his organization planning to honor Micheal Vick for turning his life around and then speaking at various community venues to help others learn from his situation and hopefully help them to stay out of trouble or do what he has done. I was devastated by Kyra's attitude towards this story. I work with different organizations that are in the trenches trying to instill a sense of importancy and responsibility of fathers through fatherhood programs. One of the main issues that we constantly have to deal with is the issue of men returning to family and community situations after being incarcerated.
One of the most effective ways to reach out to these individuals in a way that they feel comfortable enough to even engage in coversation is to show examples of positive outcomes in these situations. For her tosay "You would think that a person who has been to jail couldn't be a hero" is to me a tragic and heartless comment to make about anyone. Should Charlie Sheen still be on tv? Should Robert Downing Jr. still be allowed to act? Should people like Oliver North or Rush Limbaugh be allowed to have radio shows. If Ms. Phillips ever went to jail should she be ostracized from journalism. I would challenge her to meet with a local fatherhood group in D.C. to see just how much comments like the ones she made during the entire interview hurts people like me. I wonder who else she speaks for.

    Hello Ali,
I am a catastrophe adjuster from Toronto who works both sides of the border when disasters strike, I follow CNN exclusively and enjoy learning what is going on throughout the world however I am getting annoyed when Reporters and Representatives of the States mention all their Allies by name and never mention Canada! We have been one of the best neighbors and yet we are ignored.
We were in the World Wars along with Britain and others before the US and were apart of the Coalition forces in Desert Storm as well as the recent conflicts. We have been aboard Discovery and a Canadian is the Commander for Norad.
Canadians Love the US, it is too bad American's do not think the same of Canada or for that matter know enough about Canada.
CNN keep up the excellant work but maybe you could throw Canada in every once and while.
    Have a great day!
