as a 8 year old I sat in front of my parents T.V. and watched in amazement, the spectacle that was the Apollo missions. Many of the practical applications of technology we take for granted today, came from those missions. I can remember being very proud that I was living at a time and in a country that could achieve such greatness. In these tough economic times I realize how funding will be a problem for some but, I believe the country needs to experience again, a common goal and a pride in who we are and what we can achieve. While the technological gains alone make this a worthy challenge, the sense of country and of purpose will be the longest lasting legacy.
I think we should go back to the Moon. There is more to learn and the technology we have today would should lessen the risk. It would also create more jobs and encourage young Americans to pursue higher education. When you think about the technology learned in those early days of space flight you can only imagine the new technology a return to the moon would create especially if we establish a colony there. Our nation needs this to generate the pride in America that has been dwindling. The most import thing is to restore Made in America by Americans.
