More than once if have heard you say: "What, send people to Mars? We have issues here." That misconception implies that money spent on going to Mars will be deposited in a crater on Mars. It will actually be spent on Earth, creating jobs on Earth, many of them right here in the USA! In the course of gettiing to Mars we will address issues that affect life on Earth. New fuel sources not depending upon petroleum will have to be developed. Self-sustaining ecologies will have to be developed. Better water management will have to be developed. Water is at the heart of the problems in Sudan. The Mars program could show the way to releave the tensions there and elsewhere in the world. The trip to Mars will have to be international. A coalition will have to be formed. Would it not be better to form a coalition to explore Mars, than to form a coalition to wage a war? Going to Mars is really about the quality of life on Earth. Going to Mars will help us address issues that confront us today on Earth. For the sake of all mankind forward to Mars!
